Lovely, lovely, love my family

It’s that time of the year again and I realize that my kids’ birthdays are just around the corner and it’s time to start planning. At the same time, I’m looking back on the past year and I am amazed by how much they have changed. Especially with our sweet girl, who started grade one this past year. She loves school. She loves learning. She loves reading. She is bright, happy and caring to others and she makes us proud. She also has a temper like you wouldn’t believe. The boys no longer have their little round baby faces and they are becoming more assertive in their individual personalities. Everyone always asks if they are the same in every way because they are twins. I don’t even refer to them or think of them as twins – they are to me, two little boys, two siblings, who love to laugh about the same things and are the best of friends (who also love to fight). I can definitely say, no, they are not the same and that’s okay.

I took these photos on a weeknight late in the fall season, after a long day of working and school for the kids. We were all tired but they agreed to a photo shoot so off we went. I was in a bit of a panic knowing that I had a very short window of time, not just hours but also number of good days to get these photos done. I had been so busy already with other family photo shoots, I didn’t make time for my own. I think we had about an hour of light left by the time we made it to our location. My husband likened the experience to the equivalent of “like herding cats.” Whoever coined that term had a reason for it, clearly. Despite the chaos that ensued and the frenzy of shooting my own three kids in the dwindling light, I love, love, love these photos. They capture their spirit, their personalities and the mischievous glints in their brown eyes, in the beautiful evening fall light. I love them so much. If you know me, you know I don’t share too much about the day to day details of my life or my kids. I am moved by the moment and try to capture the memories on camera. I let the photos do the talking. So here they are.
